The Elect John Kerry Journal |

As I sit reading the Sunday edition of the Elect John Kerry Journal that masquerades as a newspaper here in Daytona I’m struck by the fact that of all the candidates that they recommend, and they make a recommendation on every race, are Democrats. What a huge surprise! I move on to read the readers opinion pages I am struck by 2 facts: First, The News Journal makes claims in several articles today the presidential race is a “Dead Heat” and that Florida is a toss up even though most of the major polls show Bush with a solid led. Second, 8 of 10 reader opinions favor Kerry, odd if the state is 50 / 50, odder still if it’s 51 / 46. Of course it could be that the liberals limited ability to produce reasons for their support have led to much shorter opinion pieces allowing more to be displayed. Maybe the Republicans need to take this lesson to heart and produce shorter less relevant statements. I’m voting Bush, he actually has a record to base the decision on, or maybe, Bush, because my money should be mine. Most of the Kerry supporters write such witticisms as “Bush miss-led us to war”, “Bush lied”, “We need a change”,”Kerry will be best because one man couldn’t possibly betray his country twice”. Ok, I admit that last one is mine. Turn the page. |

“Bloodiest day of fighting in 6 months” I’m not being cavalier about the deaths. All of the brave souls that have made the ultimate sacrifice deserve our thanks, respect, and prayers but we must remember that this is a war; there are fanatical enemies that want to kill us all. The nine marines killed yesterday knew the risks and knew that they were fighting to keep the homeland safe. After nearly 2 years the death toll today is listed at 1120, when have we fought a war with fewer casualties? When are the liberals going to admit that they have been wrong about this war from the very beginning? This is the same group that predicted American losses approaching as many as a hundred thousand, and started calling the war a quagmire before we attacked. As we took almost 3 whole weeks to defeat Saddam Hussein the Liberal press kept repeating that we were “bogged down” that “things weren’t going well” and that support for this war is fast “slipping away”. They cannot stand American success and will not report it. They are still whining about the “mess in Iraq”, good lord we’ve been there less than 2 years! It took 5 years in Japan after WWII and longer in Germany, where we allowed the allies to help. They fill the pages with stories intending to show the incompetence of the Bush Administration and when the facts come out and dispute their articles they simply move on to another pessimistic story claiming America is the bad guy, that we are creating rather than defeating our enemies. No retractions, no apologies, and certainly no positive articles that might lead the public to believe we have a chance at success. How about this headline “Wow, It seems Bush Does have a Plan!” or maybe “x (insert number) Terrorists killed and captured”. Or maybe “Iraq Huge Military Success, casualties much lighter than expected. Of course only the liberals expected the huge number of casualties no one still in a position of authority ever warned of this. Turn the page. Oh look! 377 tons of explosives still haven’t been accounted for. It’s not clear if the 250 tons claimed (isn’t this an amazing adjective?) moved by the Army was the same as the IAEA inventory. Hmm no mention of the fact that the IAEA memos indicate that the 377 ton figure is probably over by more than 100 tons. I guess they think Saddam took the first group of munitions and brought in less dangerous replacements. Turn the page. Wow paid political ads for the Republican candidates! And they say the media is biased! |
