The Main Stream Media Sucks!
Publications like the New York Times and major Television news outlet deserve our complete contempt. During the last several years the “Old Media” in this country have moved from their traditional position on the left to a new even further left fringe. The hatred and bias has become so exaggerated that even some liberals are noticing. These people are so consumed with creating the scandal of the week in an effort to tear down all things republican that they ignore real news and issues that are blatantly apparent to all that pay attention. When the wild accusations are proven false they print a tiny, hidden, retraction (sometimes) and never apologize for the damage they cause to the reputation and lives of their victims.
The Media has lied to us repeatedly. The stories of conditions in New Orleans, with thousands dead, rape, murder, and mayhem at every turn, weren’t even close to true. The Valarie Plame affair is a media created and driven scandal with no merit in law, yet they constantly accuse the President and/or his advisors of criminal acts. When the investigation finds no basis for their charges they continue to state them as though they are true. Now they are continuing to promote this fantasy of Bush lied, even with the overwhelming evidence and multiple Democrats on record saying essentially the same thing even before Bush was the President. Compare President Clinton’s quotes while he was in office with the nonsense he was spewing today. This is such a huge and obvious reversal that you should be getting the comparison in every news outlet, not just talk radio. Liberals in general and the media in particular, will disregard almost anything that doesn’t confirm their beliefs. Which is why you see almost nothing positive reported from Afghanistan or Iraq. But obviously there are plenty of great things they could spin if they chose to. We never get stories about the new schools or the new freedoms that most Iraqis now enjoy. You will not see or hear any resident that appreciates what we’ve done. You will not see the woman in new positions of power and influence interviewed about the ground breaking progress in women’s rights. Nothing that may show any positive result of our actions or justifies our presence there will make the major news casts.
The Democratic leadership is taking direct and planned action meant to undermine the President and our war effort. How else can you reconcile their memory loss? After the vast majority of them not only voted for the war but insisted on a special resolution to show them selves in favor of it. Now these same people would have you believe that they were taken in by lies from the White House. Either: 1.) They are all lying about the President for political gain, (Hard to dispute given their earlier statements) and thus should be removed from office for this egregious behavior, or 2.) They are all incredibly gullible and stupid and should be voted out of office for this reason. And the media not only ignores these falsehoods they help to promote them.
The basic facts here are that every time a Dick Durbin or a Ted Kennedy stands up and bellows, comparing us to some of the worst of human history or to accuse and undermine our leadership with baseless claims and manufactured scandal, our enemies listen and are encouraged. Many of these people are responsible for the beginnings of this war just as surely as President Bush is. They owe it to the troops to own up to the decisions they made then by supporting the effort now. The present course of action by this group will ultimately have one of two consequences. Either the left in this country will win, in which case we will affectively surrender, or victory will be significantly delayed because of the roadblocks they left keeps tossing out. It is unconscionable the way these absolve themselves from any responsibility in starting this war and then create further dangers for the soldiers with there statements and actions. It is unforgivable that they are more concerned with their personal power and influence than they are with security of this country and her citizens. The Democrats by and large can not be trusted with our national security as they are far too naïve in their beliefs. The left in the country thinks that we can buy the terrorist off by capitulation and that in fighting them we create more of them. This thinking is 180 degrees out of phase. History, both ancient and recent, proves that these fanatics see capitulation as weakness and invariably they respond with new and bolder attacks. When they are confronted they show themselves to be the cowards that they are by attacking “soft targets” and sending young, impressionable, and often coerced men and women on suicide missions usually against innocents. These terrorists are not gaining many converts among the Iraqis by targeting civilians with their attacks. There is no popular insurgency in Iraq. The terrorists by and large are coming from Iran and Syria, not from the native population and they do not enjoy popular support. I have spoken to soldiers that served in Iraq and, to a man, they say this is so. I am far more inclined to believe America’s heroes than any reporter.
The debate on whether or not we should be in Iraq was settled before the war with the consent of congress. It is foolish and counter productive to try and re-open the debate now that our troops are there. The only discussion now should be on what we need to give our boys in order to win. We should not be talking about coming home until the mission is complete. We can and have beaten this enemy. We will be victorious in this war on terror if the Liberals in this country gain the moral fortitude to do the right thing and quit working to undermine this effort or if the conservatives will show the will and backbone to put the minority party in its place.
