Mad As Hell!!!!
I’ve never had such a difficult time putting my thoughts to paper. At this moment my anger toward the liberal establishment, particularly the “main stream media” is so great that it is overwhelming my emotions. I firmly believe that these organizations have gone far beyond the selective and biased reporting they have perpetrated for years into the realm of propaganda. These papers are now full of reports of how we are losing the war in Iraq and the war on terror in general. They continue to hammer our military with completely unsubstantiated accusations of torture and abuse. They report self-serving, selective, opinion polls as though they are fair and factual in a concerted effort to turn the population of this country against our armed services and soldiers. The lies they spread about Iraq being a quagmire did not work, so now they are spreading lies about our troops and the treatment of our prisoners.
The media does not deserve our trust and they have earned our contempt. You are being force fed those stories that promote a liberal agenda while all positive references are savagely suppressed. If you doubt me do the research and you will see how stories of alleged abuse are run and repeated as though they are completely proven facts while the outrage of a US senator slandering our troops and our country is buried and treated as though it is some minor misunderstanding by a public that simply is not smart enough to understand his statements. Senator Dick (less) Durbin equates leaving prisoners is moderately uncomfortable conditions with the tortures and crimes committed by some of the worst of human history. His complaints regarding the treatment of prisoners at Gitmo are laughable and lame even without this absurd comparison. These prisoners are living in conditions better than the majority of the people in their home countries. Senator Dick (less) Durbin remains unrepentant and has apologized only that some people may have been offended by his remarks. If this man has any decent and patriotic bones in his body he would not only admit that he was wrong he would offer the people of Illinois his resignation.
Less than a year ago I still had faith that the GOP was moving this country in the right direction but I have become disillusioned by them as well. I still believe that President Bush is trying to do those things that he believes to be right but those in his own party are thwarting him. I have deep-seated fears about where this country is now going. The minority in this country has disproportionate power due to a virtual monopoly on the media and the media in this country, in my opinion, is now an enemy of this country. The majority suffers from a lack of backbone to stand up for its principles as well as a complete lack of leadership in congress.
I haven’t the wisdom to begin to know how to fix our country but it is apparent that “We, the People” are not getting the service and dedication that our elected representatives should be giving. How any person in this country can continue to vote for the likes of Dick (less) Durbin, Kennedy, Hagel, Voinovich, Boxer, Pelosi, Etc., Etc., Etc., is beyond me. Most of the people in our Federal government don’t belong there and most that do won’t subject themselves to the bullshit. I worry that due to a complete lack of a clear successor to President Bush that the Republican Party will end up fragmented allowing the Democrats to elect Hillary Clinton with, as with her husband, far less than a majority of the voters supporting her.
I have always considered myself to be an optimist but I’m finding it very difficult to maintain that attitude. The majority of the media outlets in this country and much of our government are failing us at a time in history when we can least afford it. It is time that we stand up and get vocal with our representatives. Send them letters; tell them that you don’t believe the “main stream media’s” lies. Let them know how you feel about the important issues of our time. Tell them to stop wasting time and effort on trivial bullshit and concentrate on securing this country. Tell them to stop trying to please the liberal media and treat them as the traitors that they are. We are winning the war on terror but the tide is being turned. Not by the terrorists but by our own media and liberal politicians. Is it any wonder that the armed services are missing recruiting goals when these people constantly trash them? We need to quit worrying about how the rest of the world perceives us, give up on the effort to appease our enemy and concentrate on doing what is best for our country.
